Unlike most of the other characters on Emergency, Mike Stoker was a real LA County Firefighter. One of the rules the producers were faced with when they decided to file the series was that a real firefighter had to drive the apparatus. Mike Stoker was chosen for the job, and the producers of the show named his character after him. Prior to Emergency, Mike did some Commercials and Modeling. Often during the the peak of fire season, Mike would leave the set and head back to his "Real Station" to assist in his firefighting duties which is why you do not see him in more scenes on the show.
